SARGE GOES BEST IN SHOW!!!
Are we proud? You bet we are!!! Sarge, Ch. Showtime's Shock And Awe won his first all breed Best In Show on Sunday, April 8, 2007. A memorable Easter for sure. Sarge, Sandi and I have been doing a lot of traveling so far this year. Everywhere from Indiana, Arizona, Washington, and Oregon with great success. Sarge is currently the number one basset in the country in breed points. We are so proud of this Babybut son, and thrilled to be part of ths dog's career along with fellow co-breeders and co-owners, Howard and Barbara Haskell and Sandi and Mark Chryssanthis.
Karbo , CH. Rivendell Sanlyn Midnight Run CD, TD, RE, continues to be another star of our kennel. Although he finished four titles in 1996, he is definetly not retiring. He started up again in January in the Rally ring, and has completed two additional titles. We are now working on his Rally Advanced Excellent title, the highest available title in this decipline. We also continue to work on his obedience and tracking skills with hopes to be competing for higher titles in these areas by this fall.
And with a new year comes a new sport. Karbo has been attending Agility classes since January. He is doing well learning the equipment and signals. Now if I can just do as well learning how to direct him, we should be fine!
Another rising star from the same litter as Karbo is Sasha. Rivendell's Run For The Roses NA, NJA, NJP. Sasha came back to the Northwest in 2005, and imediately went to her new family. It did not take long for her to catch on to this agility thing, and she has been quietly gaining confidence all spring and summer. I had to pry the titles that she has earned out of her mother, Karin, as she did not want to brag and invite problems. I told her: "That's OK, you can keep quiet. Grandma will do the bragging!" Sasha as also taken to tracking. She was recently certified, and we are anticipating news of another title in the near future.
Enough already with the black dogs! Mocha is just starting her show career, but oh man, what a start! She is from Babybut's second litter, and a half sister to Sarge. Although not totally lead broke, we took her to the Basset Hound Club of Portland specialty this past February. She decided to make a day of it by going Best in Sweepstakes and Best of Winners for a 4-point major from the 9 to 12 puppy class. She still has a lot of growing to do, so she will not be out much the rest of the year. But watch out, she is quite the firecracker.
OK, I lied. One more black dog to celebrate, and that is our Ch. Rivndel Sanlyn Midnite Special ROM. Solo's 7th get, Ch. Bodacious Maryland, finished her championship and qualified him for his Register of Merit distintintion. We sadly lost him last year, but with several other get still out in the show ring, I am sure that his influence will continue to be felt.
